Acer PALMATUM 'BLOODGOOD'
This classic red-leaf Japanese maple is an old standby for cold climates, but in our region, severe winter damage is a real threat to even protected specimens. The Emperor I and Crimson Queen cultivars have also shown such damage.

Mature Size: 18’ Tall x 12’ Wide
Annual Growth: 6-12”
Specific Maintenance: Wrap trunk each fall with white wrap. Ensure that tree has sufficient soil moisture available during fall.
General Maintenance: Regular watering, Structural Pruning (every 5-10 yrs), Annual balanced fertilizer (May-June, slow-release), Protect from deer.

Drawbacks:
Slow growth, very poor cold-hardiness in our region, susceptible to heavy winter damage.
