Specific Maintenance: Remove suckers from base of tree in early summer. Avoid planting by patios or pavement (fruit may stain). Watch for swollen black fungal infections in canopy and prune out (more common in older trees).
General Maintenance: Regular watering, Structural Pruning (every 5-10 yrs), Annual balanced fertilizer (May-June, slow-release), Protect from deer.
